Boxes within Facebook Fan Pages

As of late, the hot topic among my clients has been social media and how Hardly Square can help them benefit from it. There are a lot of techniques involved in this, but for the purposes of this post I’m going to focus on the Facebook Fan Page. And even more specifically the Boxes application. Utilizing the networking capabilities of the Facebook Fan page is one essential way to harness the power of social media. Whether you run a non-profit, own a small business or work in the marketing department of a corporation – a Facebook Fan page offers a zero cost solution to obtaining the benefits of social media.

Ok, so you already knew this. I get it. But the problem is there are already a gajillion Facebook Fan pages out there. You can become a fan of any thing from kittens to JC Penney. So we need to set your Facebook Fan page apart from the rest.

At Hardly Square we implemented branding techniques for our client The World Cocoa Foundation. The World Cocoa Foundation is a sweet nonprofit organization that promotes a sustainable cocoa economy. In other words, they work toward keeping the best chocolate in our mouths. I can get behind that! Actually, you should too. Become a fan of the World Cocoa Foundation.

One way Hardly Square helped the WCF pull away from the pack was to apply the Boxes tab within their Facebook fan page. Boxes give you the opportunity to clearly brand your page with signature colors, fonts, graphics, and of course, your logo. We designed several polished and professional looking ads linking directly to their key programs, success stories, blog and newsletter sign-up. These calls to action cultivate their brand’s following, generate support for their cause and ultimately push donations.

Once we established a successful Facebook Fan page with Boxes, we made sure to integrate it with their other marketing efforts. One of the more recent features with Fan Pages is that each tab now has a unique URL. This gave us the opportunity to point supporters directly to their Boxes Page from their latest Tweet, blog entries, YouTube videos and newsletters.

Let’s not take for granted that we can be connected and interconnected with millions of individuals at any given moment. Social Media has been positively impacting organizations for years now. It isn’t a new phenomenon. It’s a fact. We are finding exceptional opportunities for organizations to participate as trusted providers of credible information, establishing themselves as subject matter experts. At the same time, they’re also engaging their supporters, creating widespread awareness, and facilitating collaboration and crowdsourcing. Successfully accomplish this and you will be well on your way to harvesting the next generation of customers, clients, and supporters.
